Heating a pool is a slow thermal exchange. A typical 400,000 BTU gas heater will raise a 20,000-gallon pool by approximately 1.5Р’В°F to 2Р’В°F per hour. Smaller 100,000 BTU heaters may only achieve 0.5Р’В°F per hour. Without a solar cover, you may lose up to 5Р’В°F overnight, negating hours of daytime heating.
